Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Overview

We want you to be satisfied with Cognicat. This policy outlines how cancellations and refunds are handled for our subscription plans.

2. Free Plan

The Free plan has no associated charges. You can use it indefinitely with no obligation to upgrade. No refund applies.

3. Cancellation Policy

3.1 How to Cancel

You can cancel your Starter or Pro subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at support@learningassistant.app.

3.2 Effect of Cancellation

When you cancel a paid subscription:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period.
  • You retain access to all features of your plan until the period expires.
  • After the billing period ends, your account reverts to the Free plan.
  • Your learning plans and data are preserved and remain accessible on the Free plan.

3.3 No Partial-Month Refunds

Cancellations are effective at the end of your current billing cycle. We do not provide pro-rated refunds for unused portions of a billing period.

4. Refund Policy

4.1 Eligibility

We offer refunds under the following circumstances:

  • First-time subscribers: If you are unsatisfied within the first 7 days of your initial paid subscription, you may request a full refund.
  • Service outages: If the Service experiences extended downtime (more than 24 consecutive hours) during your billing period, you may request a pro-rated refund for the affected period.
  • Billing errors: If you were charged incorrectly (e.g., double-charged), we will issue a full refund for the erroneous charge.

4.2 Non-Refundable Scenarios

Refunds are not available for:

  • Tokens already consumed during the billing period.
  • Voluntary plan downgrades mid-cycle.
  • Dissatisfaction with AI-generated content quality (as content varies by nature).
  • Failure to cancel before automatic renewal.

4.3 How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email support@learningassistant.app with:

  • Your account email address.
  • The reason for your refund request.
  • The date of the charge in question.

We will review your request and respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7-10 business days.

5. Plan Changes

5.1 Upgrades

When upgrading from a lower plan to a higher plan, the price difference is charged immediately and your new plan benefits take effect right away.

5.2 Downgrades

Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You continue to enjoy your current plan benefits until then.
